Hi everyone! I'm sharing this again in case anyone missed my earlier post.
My name is Salome Opoku, and I'm a rising 5th-year PhD candidate at Arizona State University. I'm working on my dissertation, which explores how multilingual professionals navigate communication in English-dominant workplaces, and I'm currently looking for participants to interview.
I'm especially interested in hearing from professionals whose first language, or the language they primarily grew up speaking, is something other than English (even if you also learned English early on, for example in school). This study isn't about English proficiency; I'm mainly interested in hearing from professionals with a wide range of experiences using English at work, whether that's been easy, challenging, or somewhere in between.
I'm looking to speak with individuals who:
- Grew up primarily speaking a language other than English
- Currently work in the United States
- Have been in a role for at least 6 months where communication is central to the job (e.g., meetings, presentations, collaboration, general workplace conversations)
- Use English as the primary language at work
Participation involves a confidential 30-45 minute interview over Zoom, and participants will receive a $20 gift card as a thank-you for their time.
